Service 01
Port-to-Port Ocean Freight
The core of what we do. NovaGate Shipping Limited acts as carrier for your goods on the ocean leg — from the port where they are loaded to the port where they are discharged — and records the voyage on a single bill of lading.
What it covers
The essentials, as they appear on your B/L.
Carriage on a named ocean vessel
Your B/L records the ocean vessel, the port of loading and the port of discharge, so everyone in the chain is working from the same facts.
Tackle-to-tackle rates
Carrier rates and tariffs apply from ship’s tackle to ship’s tackle — from the moment cargo is lifted on board until it is discharged.
Free-in / free-out by agreement
Where expressly agreed as FIO, our responsibility begins once cargo is securely lashed on board at the load port and ends on unlashing at the discharge port.
Shipped-on-board confirmation
The bill of lading carries a shipped on board date and place of issue once your cargo has been loaded.
How it runs

Good to know
Questions about this service.
All questionsWhat does “ship’s tackle to ship’s tackle” mean?
Carrier rates and tariffs apply from the point where the ship’s lifting gear takes the cargo at the load port to the point where it sets the cargo down at the discharge port, unless agreed otherwise.
What is free-in / free-out (FIO)?
If a shipment is expressly agreed as FIO, the carrier’s responsibility begins only once the cargo is securely lashed on board at the load port and ends on unlashing at the discharge port. Risks, liabilities and costs outside that period are for the merchant’s account.
What happens if cargo is not collected in time?
The merchant must collect goods from the terminal or discharge port within the time allowed by the port, terminal and local regulations. Otherwise the goods may be seized, detained and sold at public auction by the local authority.
