Bills of Lading & Documentation
As carrier, NovaGate Shipping Limited issues the bill of lading for the goods it carries. It is the receipt for your cargo, the evidence of the contract of carriage and — when consigned to order — the document that controls delivery.
What it covers
The essentials, as they appear on your B/L.
Original and copy B/Ls
The B/L states which original or copy it is, how many additional sheets are attached and the number of original and copy bills issued.
Consignee and notify party
The consignee box is not negotiable unless consigned to order. The notify party is the contact advised on arrival.
Cargo particulars
Marks and numbers, HS code, number and kind of packages, description of goods, gross weight in kilograms and measurement.
Port of discharge agent
The agent at the port of discharge is named on the B/L, so the consignee knows who to contact on arrival.

A bill of lading is the document a carrier issues for goods it carries. It acknowledges receipt of the cargo, evidences the contract of carriage and, when issued to order, can be used to transfer the right to take delivery.
Who is responsible for the cargo particulars?
The particulars on the B/L — marks, packages, description, weight and measurement — are furnished and declared by the shipper. The weight, measure, quantity, condition, contents and value of the goods are unknown to the carrier.
How many originals does a NovaGate B/L have?
Each NovaGate bill of lading states which original or copy it is, the number of additional sheets and the total number of original and copy bills issued for the shipment.
